Answer: A worthy answer might be because you are excited to be part of a system upon which so much depends in the modern world. Banking is also exciting because it offers so many opportunities in various areas.
► Question: What personal characteristics distinguish you as a candidate for a banking career?
Answer: This depends on the position you might have in mind. But generally speaking, a good place to start is with responsibility and reliability, work ethics, enthusiasm for the world of finance and economics, aptitude with numbers, etc.
► Question: Are you proficient in foreign languages?
Answer: Languages is another key element in a successful banking career, especially in the higher echelons of the banking hierarchy, where communication with world leaders is vital. So even if you are just starting out as a clerk, having a flair for languages will distinguish you as promotion material.
► Question: Would you say you are a people person or a private person?
Answer: Banking positions almost always require work with people and the ability to communicate effectively. Money is serious business and anyone employed in a bank must be able to generate trust. This does not mean that you need to be extroverted or verbose. But if you are excessively shy, it may be to your detriment in this position.
► Question: What experience do you already have in banking, if any?
Answer: Be truthful and specific. Describe details of working in any of these and other areas: domestic finances, personal financial planning, trustee documents, credit cards, catering, clerical positions, etc.
