A photographer has a wide venue of areas to work in, whether outside photographing scenery and wildlife, for a newspaper documenting images of war or local happenings, or in a studio or at weddings.
While anyone can push a button, a photographer has the creative skills to compose a masterpiece or use computer technology to enhance reality.
This cover letter for a Photographer enumerates the types of photos the photographer specializes in – add or delete according to your own repertoire.

Re: Photographer
Dear Mr. Carpenter,
I was delighted to hear that your magazine is searching for the services of an experienced photographer, as I would be honored to join your prestigious journal.
As you can read in the attached resume, I have been using my camera for years to capture a variety of subjects and can either mimic the style of your previous photographer or use my own innovative approach.
I earned my BFA in photography, and I both attend and present advanced courses in specialized photography.
I specialize in:
- Open-air photography – researching the best angles and locations from which to photograph nature scenes of oceans and beaches.
- fields and meadows, forests and deserts.
- People enjoying the great outdoors and animals in their natural habitat.
I have much experience in commercial photography, as well, and have harnessed my creativity for numerous food shots.
Whether black and white photography, portrait/studio shoots, or fashion photography, I carefully position the subject, take optimum pictures, and, at the option of the client, edit the images and include special effects.
I would like to demonstrate my photographic skills and expertise, and to hear more about the direction you envision the magazine evolving.
I’d be happy to set up an appointment to come in for an interview.
Please contact me at the above cell phone or email.
